Women's Group

All women in need of support and healing from trauma and abuse are welcome.

Authentic Hope

In a safe and supportive space, women learn about the complex dynamics of abuse and trauma, the freedom and love Jesus wants to give them, Biblical truths about abuse and healing, and ways to heal from trauma and abuse. We will also talk about how trauma affects our brain and how to return to joy from difficult experiences.

Addresses for in-person support group locations will be given to registered participants.

DBT + Jesus

This support group will apply Christ-centered principles along with Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT).  DBT helps people to increase their emotional and cognitive regulation by identifying the triggers that lead to reactive states and by learning which coping skills to apply in the sequence of events, feelings, thoughts, and behaviors to lead ultimately to a “life worth living”.  This group is led by Jason Kell, LPCC and Gail Oakes, volunteer staff counselor.
Participants need to purchase the workbook, DBT Skills Training Handouts & Worksheets, 2nd Edition by Marsha Lineham, on their own.

Finding Rest: Learning to Pause and Appreciate

This women’s support group is based on the book Get Your Life Back by John Eldridge. It will help you learn to pause during your busy days to focus on the love and connection you have with Jesus. You will also learn how to make lifestyle choices that will help you grow in your relationship with the Lord and move towards a healthier sense of well-being physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. Participants need to purchase the book Get Your Life Back by John Eldridge on their own.

Prerequisite: Participation in at least one women’s Authentic Hope group is required.

Living the Immanuel Lifestyle

This group is designed to usher you into a new level in your spiritual growth and emotional well-being by increasing your capacity to have an interactive relationship with God and grow in your ability to develop healthier relationships with the people in your life. This experiential connection with God is the foundation for deep and lasting spiritual growth, healing from painful experiences and life events, healthy relationships with others and unity in the body of Christ.

Prerequisite: Participation in at least one women’s Authentic Hope group is required.

Zoom Tuesday - South Asia

Living From the Heart Jesus Gave You, Part 2

This women’s support group is based on Living from the Heart Jesus Gave You, published by Life Model Works and written by James Wilder and his team. This support group will help participants to go deeper in their healing from trauma and abuse and to build stronger connections with God and people. Some of the topics will include achieving wholeness, building stronger joy capacity, understanding the maturity stages as we go through life, how the brain helps us with trauma, and how to have a healthy heart. We will cover the second half of the book in this session. 

Participants need to purchase Living from the Heart Jesus Gave You book on their own. Door of Hope will provide a Support Group workbook to all participants.

Prerequisite: Participation in Part 1, and at least one Authentic Hope group AND one Living the Immanuel Lifestyle group is required.

  • Prerequisite: Participation in Part 1, and at least one women’s Authentic Hope group AND one Living the Immanuel Lifestyle group is required.

Trailblazers

Trailblazers is an ongoing Twin Cities support group for women with Dissociative Identity Disorder.

Prerequisites: Participation in at least one Authentic Hope session. An interview with Tyra Laughlin is required before registering.

Boundaries, Part 2

This support group, based on Boundaries, by Dr. Henry Cloud and Dr. John Townsend, will begin to provide tools and insight on how to have healthier relationships and set limits on relationships that are demanding or unhealthy. Good boundaries help us to be free to be ourselves and to allow others to be themselves also.

Participants need to purchase the Boundaries book on their own. Door of Hope will provide a Support Group Manual to all participants.

Prerequisite: Participation in Boundaries Part 1, and at least one Authentic Hope group is required.

Safe People

This women’s support group is based on the Safe People curriculum by Dr. Henry Cloud and Dr. John Townsend. Come discover what makes people relationally safe, and how to avoid unhealthy entanglements. You’ll learn about things inside you that jeopardize your relational security and you’ll find out how to develop a balanced, healthy approach to relationships. Participants need to purchase the book Safe People by Dr. Henry Cloud & Dr. John Townsend on their own.

Getting Real

Empowering Men to Live Out Their True Identity

Men, our brains are a very powerful organ in our bodies. Our daily actions and reactions are both conscious and unconscious. Many times we don't understand why we respond the way we do and it feels difficult to change our behavior. In this group, together we will discover how our environment and experience shape our thoughts and emotions and how to better manage them.  In this 9-week support group, we will use Biblical truths and cutting-edge neuroscience to heal areas many of us never knew we needed.
